Barcelona based singer will be releasing her second single titled ”Crossfire” on December 17. Suz was gracious enough to grant us an interview where she talks about her passion for music, upcoming projects, and who influenced her sound. We were also given the chance to preview the new single, and I can promise you will love it once it releases.

TMB: What is the story behind “Crossfire”?

A while back, a producer whom I often collaborate with — Freska, sent me a tune and asked whether I’d write something for it. The music got stuck in my head and the melody and words came out naturally. I’ve changed the way this tune sounds a million times but I’m super happy about the final effect!

TMB: How would you describe your music?

I don’t know, haha. I just try to show my feelings through the medium of music — some would say it’s emotive, with elements of soul and heavy electronics.

TMB: What is your creative process like?

It’s always good to have some sort of starter — I work well with melodies and then I write lyrics. Sometimes a song can start with one sentence, with a phrase someone’s once said… I like to let the tunes sit for a period of time and listen to them with fresh ears. I also try to involve people close to me in the development process — I let my friends, often not professional musicians, listen and tell me what they think!

TMB: What made you realize that music was your path?

Hm, it’s quite hard to tell as music has been with me all my life — my first performance was probably when I was 6 years old. I’ve been playing gigs and participating in musical projects for years, but only recently, I’ve also started producing my own music, which was a total game-changer!

TMB: So what plans do you have for future releases?

I’ve got some songs in the works, hopefully to be released in the first half of 2022!

TMB: Are there any additional songwriting or producer credits you would like to add?

I’d like to mention FRESKA who wrote the original music for ‘Crossfire,’ and also Diego at LightningTheCavernWorks Studio in Barcelona, who helped me with the general production and engineering.

TMB: Who are your biggest musical influences?

Another difficult question! I listen to all sorts of music! I really love the work of Sevdaliza and how she blends her voice and artistic vision with electronic beats! I do also like soul artists such as Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, as well as rappers and grime artists such as Skepta or Ghetts amongst many others.

TMB: What makes your music unique?

I try to mix all the styles I like in my songs — rock, soul, grime, urban sounds etc. It’s a sort of blend people don’t expect really. My songs are melodic but ‘heavy’!

TMB: Final thoughts?

Well, I hope you enjoy the track! Remember to follow me on Social Media and stay tuned for the future releases.
