As I have mentioned in previous posts mental health needs more than just awareness, it needs acceptance. For millions of people that struggle with various mental disorders it can feel like things will never get better, and nothing really changes. Sam Baird is helping to bring to light the serious issue of mental health with his single Nothing Really Changes.

The banner across all of our social media channels has a simple statement, and that statement is “Music Is My Escape”. I chose this particular banner because not only is it true, but for a lot people music is an escape from life and problems. For some those 3 minutes that are spent listening to their favorite song can help to turn around an otherwise bad day or take their minds to a different place. I feel that Nothing Really Changes can be one of those songs for someone.

Sam has done an excellent job with giving us a song that is easy for the listener to relate to. It really speaks volumes to the minds of those who struggle with everyday problems that might seem impossible. I like this song for so much more than just the message it is conveying. There is also the fact that it has a 90s alt-rock sound about it. The other part of this song I like so much are the vocals. Sam is somewhere between Kurt Cobain and Tom Waits on this track.

If you’ve never listened to Sam Baird before now I would highly suggest taking a listen to Nothing Really Changes, and don’t forget to stream his music everywhere, playlist it, and share on your social media too. I will be adding this song to the top 5 of our Indie Rock playlist on Spotify.
