Human from Damien
Damien’s upcoming single Human is available now. The track is driven by a heavy handed beat track, that opens the door to the haunting vocal prowess of Damien. It has taken listening to the track a couple of times to fully wrap my head around something that is similar in sound, but, I’ve not been able to come up with anything. If I had choose just off the top of my head I would say that it is somewhere between Marylin Manson and DePeche Mode.
Human is the second release from Damien’s upcoming second album “Wrong Age. Wrong Race. Wrong Gender”. What I like so much about this song is its message. Using their platform Damien encourages us all to have compassion and empathy towards one another. We are living in an age where the internet and social media tend to bring out the worst in some of its users. In my opinion, we need more music that is taking a pro-active approach to foster an environment where we all are treated fairly, humanely, and with basic human dignity.
Reviewing music is not always as easy as just saying whether we like a song or don’t like it. We have to feel an emotional connection with the artist and their words. I pass on a great deal of music for review because I don’t feel a connection. This new single, “Human”, from Damien is one that I instantly felt a connection with the overall meaning behind it.
