We may be just a small online blog, but we are always on the lookout for hardworking, talented artists. King Lil G would be one of those artist that we look for. He is about as real as it will ever be speaking on topics like personal struggles, street life, and life in general. After more research I came across other articles from bloggers that have claimed King’s lyrics are “meaningless” or they have no “storytelling”. For those bloggers I can say that I equate your writing ability to hugging the toilet early in the mornings after a hard night of partying.

For this blogger what makes King such a prolific artist is not only his storytelling but also that he has worked hard to get to where he is. I feel if more indie rappers were to follow his blueprint then they would find the same amount of success. I am the type of person who likes to follow the evolution of an artist without announcing myself as a follower or fan. This allows me to see them in a different way. I first began following King a few years back after coming across one of his videos while watching the late female rapper La Baby Smiley.

I normally feature artist from the United Kingdom but I wanted to share this west coast phenom with my readers. What I like so much about King is whenever I listen to his music it takes me back. I grew up in the 80s listening to rap (when it had meaning) and my favorite was Kid Frost. Listening to King brings back memories of growing up in New Orleans and then moving to rural Ohio, and being the only white kid in junior high listening to Frost and other gangster rappers.

King’s vocals match his lyrics and flow perfectly in my opinion he has a slow almost deliberate method to his delivery. Easy to keep up with and not hidden behind the beat, or mumbled. His message is clear and succinct to the point that he is making.

If you have not listened to King Lil G, and are a fan of real rap music then I suggest you take a listen soon.

As previously mentioned we are just a small blog that is just starting out, so this is just our opinion and we don’t expect everyone to share the same opinion as we do.
