What is the story behind “We’ll Build Something New ”?

‘We’ll Build Something New’ is a track that is very special to me. It is a slightly melancholic love song that reflects on the feelings of falling in love for the first time in a new relationship. It’s an authentic and honest account of both the new found love that you have for somebody, whilst at the same time the nerves that go along with it.

How would you describe your music?

I would describe my music as being a fusion of folk singer songwriter, Latin and Blues music. Everything for me starts with the guitar which I think is already coming through in my first couple of tracks, but I think the vocals are more reminiscent of my singer songwriter roots than anything else. My music is first and foremost intended to be honest and it is generally telling a story that I hope people can relate to.

What is your creative process like?

Usually I will be feeling something I want to express, and normally that comes from something that has happened in my own life, but sometimes it can also be inspired from something external like a movie for example. When I start the actual songwriting, I always start with the guitar as that is just my base. I usually will start playing around with riffs and chord progressions and then improvise lyrics over the top as I just play around in a circle. Most of those lyrics turn out to be completely useless but slowly the skeleton of the story in the vocals starts to reveal itself and from there, I will grab a pen and paper and start to fill in the gaps and take a more scientific approach to the lyrics and think of expressive ways to tell the right story.

What made you realize that music was your path?

Music has always been a passion of mine and a real comfort for me growing up, however, it is only recently that I have realised that it is something I genuinely would like to pursue full time. I was always afraid of pursuing music with all my efforts growing up, but now I realise that that is what truly makes me happy and that is the most important thing. I feel most at home when I am playing or writing music and I feel most accomplished when I have finished a new song/ video etc.

So what plans do you have for future releases?

In the tail end of 2021 I have 2 more releases including this one. In 2022 I aim to go for something a bit bigger and will be releasing an array of new singles, as well as a bit of an acoustic album which I am really excited to share. I have quite the backlog of songs so I will not be stuck for material so aim to release a much bigger portfolio of work for next year.

Are there any additional songwriting or producer credits you would like to add?

No, I write and produce all my songs myself.

Who are your biggest musical influences?

Growing up, I was a huge fan of singer songwriters such as James bay and Ed Sheeran but I also am a nerd for the works of guitarists like Eric Clapton, BB King, John Mayer, and many more. My singer songwriter influences are what come through the most but I think my guitarist influences are starting to come through more in my songwriting. I am also hugely proud of my Latin heritage and so this influence plays a big role in my music, not only in my Spanish language songs like ‘Sin Tu Amor’ but also in my English songs through the use of flamenco guitar.

What makes your music unique?

I think my ability to express my culture through both Latin and Western singer songwriter influences is part of what makes my sound very unique. Beyond that, I think that the singer songwriter genre has lost a lot of the guitar influences that it once had, and that is something that I would like to rekindle, so I think the way I use the guitar in the future is going to be something that sets my sound apart.

Final thoughts?

I am really excited to finally be sharing my music with the world and have lots of big news planned so stay tuned!
