Liverpool rock band The Heavy North have released the third single Awake from thier upcoming album Electric Soul Machine due out in January of 2022. Awake has truly classic rock vibe about it, and it works out really well overall. Words like “woke” or “awake” have become synonymous with the social justice warriors of the world and the so call “cancel” culture.

Awake from The Heavy North is different though. It takes on a more informative meaning. It is used as a vehicle to bring about awareness to everything that is wrong with society. In my opinion, I blame the internet and social media. Both have really become a disaster for the human race, cancerous like to a point. People are so easily offended these days, I’m sure someone will take offense to me using the term social justice warrior.

Awake from The Heavy North plays out in a way that expresses that not everything can be solved by being offended. A great example of this would be the controversy that comedian Dave Chapelle is facing with his new Netflix special. People are offended by the subject matter and are actively trying to “cancel” the comedian. What will it solve if they do, there will just be another comedian a long shortly doing the same routine. Awake makes a great point by asking the question won’t this create an even larger divide among people in general.

What I like so much about Awake from The Heavy North is their vintage rock sound. It plays well to the vintage sound while adding a little blues influence, and some Carlos Santana style guitar for a little spice. I have added it to our Indie Rock playlist, so please take a second and like the playlist and follow our Spotify profile.

I think fans of the vintage rock and blues sound will really appreciate this single. Don’t forget to pre-order their album Electric Soul Machine at www.theheavynorth.com you can pr-order the 12" vinyl and CD
